The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has officially dismissed claims circulating on social media suggesting that the registration fee for the Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT) 2025 has been raised by 80 percent.

In an official statement, the Council clarified that the fee has risen only modestly — from Rs. 8,000 in 2024 to Rs. 9,000 in 2025 — marking a 12.5 percent increase, not the drastic hike being claimed online.
Why the Fee Went Up
According to PMDC, the adjustment was made upon the request of universities administering the test. These institutions reported higher operational costs this year, including:
- Paper printing and exam material production
- Enhanced security measures to prevent cheating and maintain fairness
- Logistical arrangements for exam centers across the country
- Payments to examination staff for supervision and coordination
A PMDC spokesperson emphasized that the fee revision was necessary to maintain exam quality, security, and integrity, given the scale of MDCAT, which is held simultaneously in multiple provinces.

PMDC’s Final Word on the Rumor
The Council urged students and parents to rely only on official PMDC announcements for information regarding the exam, warning that misinformation on social media can cause unnecessary panic among candidates.
By addressing the fee controversy and clarifying the actual figures, PMDC aims to restore confidence among aspiring medical and dental students preparing for one of the most competitive entrance exams in Pakistan.
