Wasim Akram, the former Pakistan captain and 1992 World Cup winner, was inducted into the PCB Hall of Fame on Sunday. In an international career that lasted from 1984 to 2003, Akram got 916 wickets and scored 6,615 runs.
Before the commencement of the 28th match of the Pakistan Super League between Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators, Sir Vivian Richards, one of the all-time greats and an ICC Cricket Hall of Famer, formally entered Wasim Akram into the exclusive list by presenting him with a commemorative cap and plaque.
Wasim Akram is currently one of eight Pakistani cricketers inducted into the Pakistan Cricket Board’s Hall of Fame. Abdul Qadir, Fazal Mahmood, Hanif Mohammad, Imran Khan, Javed Miandad, Waqar Younis, and Zaheer Abbas are among the others who will be formally inducted into the exclusive group in the coming days.
“I am honoured to have received this tremendous accolade from Sir Vivian Richards, one of cricket’s most famous figures, and at a place that served as my home ground throughout my playing career.” “I’d also want to congratulate the Pakistan Cricket Board on starting this initiative to honour and acknowledge the services of past cricketers,” Akram added.
“It has been a privilege to represent Pakistan for the past 18 years, during which time I have participated in 460 international matches.
