The Pakistan Cricket Board said in a statement that all-rounder Imad Wasim of the Karachi Kings has been penalized 5% of his match fee for a Level 1 infraction of the PSL Code of Conduct during the encounter against Islamabad United on Monday.
According to the PCB, the cricketer broke Article 2.5 of the PSL Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which prohibits “using language, actions, or gestures that denigrate or potentially cause an angry reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during a PSL Match.”
Imad had Rahmanullah Gurbaz caught at mid-off by Babar Azam after the opener had smashed the left-arm spinner for two sixes in three balls in the first over of the contest.
There was no need for a formal hearing because Imad acknowledged the offense and accepted the sanction offered by Ranjan Madugalle.
On-field umpires Asif Yaqoob and Richard Illingworth, third umpire Rashid Riaz, and fourth umpire Nasir Hussain all made accusations.
Level 1 violations that occur for the first time bear a minimum penalty of an official warning and/or a fine of up to 25% of the appropriate match fee.
