DHARAMSALA: India won the three-match series against Sri Lanka on Sunday, with Shreyas Iyer scoring an unbeaten 73 to lead India to a record-tying 12th successive T20I victory.

Thanks to Iyer’s third consecutive unbeaten half-century, India won with 19 balls to spare, chasing 147 for victory. In Dharamsala, a Himalayan highland town, they won by six wickets.

Since losing to New Zealand in the International Cup last year, India has gone undefeated, climbing to the top of the world T20 rankings with a 3-0 thrashing of the West Indies earlier this month.

India drew with Afghanistan, who had won their previous 12 T20I matches in a row from February to September this year.

Due to the fact that the hosts won the series despite the absence of Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant, skipper

. “All we want to do now is move forward.” It’ll be a tough task, but it’s better to have men in form than not in form,” Rohit stated after the victory.

“You can go from strength to strength if the guys take advantage of the opportunity as some of these men have.”

Despite Dasun Shanaka’s unbeaten 74 from 38 balls, the bowlers set the tone for victory by reducing Sri Lanka to 146 for five.

In response, India lost Rohit Sharma for five in the second over of the chase, passing Pakistan’s Shoaib Malik (124 matches) as the most capped T20I player.

Iyer then seized command and put up 48 runs with wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson in his 45-ball innings.

Lahiru Kumara took two wickets, including Deepak Hooda for 21, but Iyer and Ravindra Jadeja put on a 45-run stand (22).

“I’m not expecting anything from myself or the team coaches since the competition in our squad is intense, and any individual is capable of winning games,” Iyer, who was awarded man of the match and series, told reporters.

“I want to take advantage of every time and opportunity that has been given to me, and I prefer to finish the game,” says the player.

Shanaka reacted with a blitz of nine fours and two sixes after Sri Lanka had lost their top four batters for 29 runs after deciding to bat.

Shanaka, who scored 47 points, was the highest-scoring player in the tournament.
