WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, is revising its privacy policy, according to WABetaInfo.

WhatsApp is revising its privacy policy in Europe, according to WABetaInfo, an independent blog that tracks the messaging app’s progress.

Don’t Miss:

“The revised privacy policy now includes more details and WhatsApp is making it more clear,” it said on WhatsApp. “However, nothing changes for users, fundamentally.”

The privacy policy for people outside of the European Region, on the other hand, remains intact.

According to Sky News, the decision was made because WhatsApp wants to be more upfront with its customers after being fined and reprimanded by regulators for a record €225 million (£188 million) earlier this year.

According to the corporation, the upgrade does not affect how it handles user data, but it does meet the standards of European Union privacy regulators in terms of transparency.
