Islamabad United defeated Peshawar Zalmi by 9 wickets in their first match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 7.
Peshawar Zalmi’s innings got off to a shaky start as they lost early wickets. Shoaib Malik’s experience and Sherfane Rutherford’s explosiveness helped them steady the ship and put on a fantastic comeback before Ben Cutting finished off the innings in flamboyant fashion, helping Zalmi post 168/6 on the board.
Islamabad United got off to a fast start, with openers Alex Hales and Paul Stirling scoring half-centuries in quick succession. The Zalmi bowling unit was unable to cope with the onslaught of the United batters, and they comfortably chased down the target with 9 wickets and 5 overs to spare.
