Lahore Jump to 2nd on PSL Points Table After Tense Win Over Islamabad

After a nail-biting victory over Islamabad in PSL 7’s 12th match, Lahore Qalandars ascended to second place in the points standings. Islamabad, on the other hand, has dropped to third place in the tournament after losing their second match.
Lahore got out to a flying start, taking full advantage of the powerplay and destroying Islamabad United’s bowling unit. In the middle of the innings, they lost their way as Islamabad’s captain Shadab Khan got four wickets to interrupt Lahore’s innings. They made a strong recovery in the final innings to finish with a tough total of 174/9.

Early in the innings, Islamabad’s batsmen were not at their best, as they lost Paul Stirling and Alex Hales for cheap. Colin Munro and Shadab Khan helped to steady the ship by scoring superb half-centuries that placed them in command. Lahore’s world-class bowling squad was not going down without a fight, as they took back-to-back wickets of both set players. Zaman Khan, a young fast bowler, produced a magnificent last over, defending 12 runs to give Lahore an 8-run victory.

For his outstanding effort with the ball, Zaman was chosen player of the match. In four overs, he had figures of 1/29, including a brilliant last over.

Pre-match

On Saturday, February 5, Islamabad United will face Lahore Qalandars in the PSL 2022’s 12th encounter. The match will begin at 2:30 p.m. PST at Karachi’s National Stadium.

Match Preview

Both Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars will fight for supremacy in the PSL 2022 points table, as both clubs strive to maintain their second-place positions. Islamabad United is now ranked second, with Lahore Qalandars in third place. Both clubs have an identical record in the competition, having won two and lost one of their first three games. Islamabad’s outstanding net run rate has enabled them go ahead of Lahore, which is currently in second place.

Islamabad United has been one of the tournament’s most intriguing teams. Their potent hitting lineup has clicked, and they’ve put up a lot of points throughout the tournament.

They were superb against Quetta Gladiators in their previous match, scoring the highest total in the tournament thus far. They were also fantastic with the bat, but they’ll be seeking to enhance their bowling at the finish of the innings.

Lahore has been particularly noteworthy. Their batting has connected, with Fakhar Zaman in fine form, and their world-class bowling arsenal has been unstoppable thus far in the tournament. Captain Shaheen Afridi has had a great start to his captaincy career, and he’ll be looking for his team to keep up the good work. In the field, they don’t appear to be that impressive.

They dropped six catches in their previous match and will need to turn things around soon since few teams will let such a large number of opportunities go unpunished.

Both teams are likely to field the same lineups as they did in their previous match. Both teams are well-balanced, so this should be an entertaining match.

X-Factor

In his opening encounter of the PSL 7, Colin Munro thrashed the Quetta bowling unit.
